The Original Kool Archives Weekly Schedule: Reliving the Golden Era of Kool FM

At Original Kool Archives, the mission is simple: preserve and celebrate the history and legacy of Kool FM, one of the most influential stations in jungle and drum and bass culture.

With over 9,000 recordings in the archive, I have created a series of dedicated weekly playlists that allow listeners to experience different eras and iconic moments from Kool FM’s incredible history.

Whether you’re discovering these broadcasts for the first time or reliving memories from the original pirate radio days, there’s something special every day of the week.

Monday Nights: The Sound of 1993

Every Monday from 7pm until midnight we take listeners back to 1993, a pivotal year in the evolution of jungle music.

These broadcasts capture the raw energy of the early scene as hardcore evolved into jungle. Expect rolling breakbeats, deep basslines, rave influences and the sounds that laid the foundations for everything that followed.

For many listeners, these are some of the most important recordings in the entire Kool FM archive.

Tuesday Nights: 1994 and 1995

Tuesday evenings from 7pm until midnight focus on two landmark years in jungle history: 1994 and 1995.

This was the period when jungle exploded across London and beyond. DJs were pushing the music into new territory while MCs developed the styles that would become synonymous with the scene.

These recordings showcase the creativity, innovation and excitement that made Kool FM the soundtrack of a generation.

Wednesday: MC Skibadee Day

Every Wednesday from 9am until midnight we celebrate one of the greatest MCs ever to touch a microphone.

Our dedicated Skibadee playlist features classic performances spanning his legendary career on Kool FM and beyond.

From rapid-fire lyrics and crowd-hyping energy to unforgettable moments alongside some of the biggest DJs in the scene, this collection highlights exactly why Skibadee remains such an important figure in jungle and drum and bass history.

For fans searching for classic MC Skibadee Kool FM recordings, Wednesdays have become essential listening.

Thursday Nights: 1996 and 1997

Thursday evenings from 7pm until midnight focus on 1996 and 1997.

By this point jungle had evolved into a more sophisticated and diverse sound, with many of the artists who defined the genre reaching their creative peak.

These recordings feature some of the finest DJ performances and MC combinations ever heard on pirate radio, showcasing why Kool FM remained at the forefront of the scene.

Sunday Mornings: Wakey Wakey Rise and Shine

Sunday mornings from 9am until midday recreate one of the most cherished traditions in Kool FM history.

Listeners can once again enjoy the famous “Wakey Wakey Rise and Shine” and “Egg and Bacon Sizzler” sessions that became a ritual for countless listeners across London.

Featuring legendary DJs Jinx, Chase, Q-Gritty and Jackknife, these recordings capture the unique atmosphere of Sunday mornings on Kool FM.

For many old-school listeners, these shows bring back some of their happiest memories of the station.

Super Sundays: The Legendary Weekend Sessions

From midday until midnight every Sunday, we celebrate the legendary Super Sunday sessions that became a cornerstone of Kool FM.

These broadcasts feature some of the station’s most iconic DJ and MC combinations, including Brockie & Det, Trace & Rymetyme, Pressure X, Younghead, the Ragga Twins and many more Kool FM favourites alongside special guests.

Super Sunday was where listeners could hear some of the biggest names in jungle and drum and bass delivering unforgettable performances, exclusive dubplates and classic moments that are still talked about today.

The shows represent everything that made Kool FM special: great music, larger-than-life personalities and a genuine connection with the audience.

Preserving the Legacy of Kool FM

Original Kool Archives was created to preserve the history and legacy of Kool FM and its contribution to jungle, drum and bass and UK pirate radio culture.

As a pirate archivist and lifelong supporter of the scene, I’ve spent years building one of the world’s largest collections of Kool FM recordings.

These dedicated playlists are designed to make that history accessible to everyone, whether you were there the first time around or are discovering these legendary broadcasts for the very first time.

Tune in to the 24/7 stream and experience the sounds that helped shape jungle and drum and bass history.
